Reflecting on the screen printing workshop with Paul Robinson

We were delighted to have an overwhelming turnout for last Saturday’s Raw Social workshop, thanks to everyone who came in and took part!

Taking inspiration from the unique watercolour effects in Barthélémy Toguo’s piece “Last Judgment”, the brilliant artist Paul Robinson led our group in recreating those designs and more with silkscreens, paint, and a variety of tools. After practicing various techniques with charcoal on paper, we spilled, scraped, spread, slapped, pushed, pulled, and dragged red and black paint all over our silkscreens then lifted them to reveal amazing, complex effects beneath. Despite having three times the amount of people to silkscreens, we had so much fun getting our hands dirty and learning new ways to explore our expressiveness through the medium of paint.
